Cockroaches

There are many speices of cockroach found around the world but only a few cause public heath risks within the uk.
 
German Cockroach Blattella germanica
Commonly found in kitchens, both domestic and industrial in boiler rooms, restaurants and industrial dish washers to name only a few places. They prefure a hot steamy environment which is why it is also known as a steam fly.
The female can produce 4-6 egg cases (ootheca) during her lifetime. each case containes 30-40 eggs. Eggs hatch in 28-30 days and nymphs develope to adults in 40-125 days.These can be esculated due to environment and conditions. German cockroaches produces more eggs and has more generations per year than any other cockroach.
 
 
Oriental Cockroach Bllata orientalis
Commonly found around decaying organic matter, and in sewers, drains, damp basements, porches, and other damp locations. Slightly larger than the german cockroach but much darker in colour and slower moving. Their ootheca carries less eggs and the female can produce up to 150 young.
 
 
Control
 
If used incorrectly, Insecticides can be harfull to domestic animals and marine life. If you find you have cockroaches of any type contact us for advice, or to book a survey. Routine pest control visits will reduce and/or remove cockroach infestations.
